All roads are in decent condition as we head into fall. Additional grading will be done as needed to prepare the roads for winter plowing.
Be aware that tree cutting is scheduled Tuesday September 22nd on the SLW curves at the bottom of the hill. Dead trees (7-10) will be dropped to eliminate the risk of any them falling across the road.
Tree cutting on the Star Lake Woods Road curves at the bottom of the hill has now been completed. The dead trees were removed to reduce the risk of them falling across the road.
Fall is a busy time for contractor work, so please ensure your contractors leave the road in its original condition once your projects are complete.

This spring and summer season has been good to our roads, with no crazy rains or flooding requiring costly road repairs. That said, we have been working on improving our local cottage roads while keeping the main road healthy for travel. Full truckloads of gravel, followed by grading, have been applied to each of our roads at the locations shown in the road diagram, to address spring washouts and low areas where water puddles. This is holding up well considering the summer traffic.
The main road had a collapsed culvert pipe, which was temporarily repaired. The large potholes on the main road just before the Morningside intersection were recently addressed with a load of gravel and grading. Since April, the roads have been graded five times, and grading will continue as required.
Upcoming “to-dos” include grass cutting along the main road and the removal of dead and leaning trees along the Star Lake Woods main road.
Large expenditures for the main road are pending direction from the Township regarding ownership, which also factors into further investment in our local cottage roads.

FISHING DERBY registration (age 15 and under) at Thurners dock – 47 Morningside – 7am = 1pm
- Food & treats will be available throughout the afternoon.
- Bring your favourite beverage of choice.
- Please try to avoid driving if you can and help us keep traffic and parking congestion to a minimum.
- If you’d like to help offset costs, donations are always appreciated. Or feel free to bring a dessert, snack, or other treat to share with the community instead.
- Please minimize waste, and take home anything you brought with you.
- As a courtesy to our wonderful hosts, we ask that guests use the portable facilities.
- We recommend bringing a lawn chair, along with swimsuits, towels, sunscreen, bug spray, and anything else you may need.
- Please note that there will be no lifeguard on duty, and parents/guardians are responsible for supervising their children at all times in and around the water.

Summer is upon us, and with that, cottage road traffic has ramped up, which unfortunately, combined with all the rain we’ve had, has created a number of potholes.
That said, the road is in decent condition, but please be aware of potholes and drive accordingly.
We have graded the road a few times this spring and will be grading again next week, mainly to address the potholes.
Currently, no major projects are scheduled as we await direction from the Township regarding our main access road, recognizing that this will directly impact our road budget allocation.
